Self storage is essentially an industry in which storing space, also called "self storage units," is rented to customers, most often on a temporary basis. Many self-storage facilities exist throughout the country; however, there are only a few that deal primarily with commercial properties. Businesses typically rent self-storage spaces to store items like office supplies, jewelry, furniture, computers, and even some cars or boats. In turn, these types of customers pay monthly fees to rent a space. Many self-storage facilities will have a variety of options for tenants including standard single-day, double-day, and multi-day rental periods.
